Yesterday not only did I get my floor (mostly) patched up, but I received my copy of Doug Wright Volume One: Canada's Master Cartoonist.

A Canadian institution to those in the 35+ range, he was a family friend and sadly died far too young in 1983. His work oozes Canadiana, but not in the usual camp manner. You easily recognize Toronto, Hamilton, and Montreal and the usual middle class life. It also serves as a darn good biography too.

Sadly, he's pretty much forgotten as his work didn't creep into the digital age, and most of the publications he drew for have since folded. But those who read The Hamilton Spectator and the Montreal Standard will recognize his work immediately. It's art that just doesn't make the "Funny Pages" anymore. I'll echo the comparison that he was the "Canadian Charles Schulz" but the art and humour flows so much better.

Yep, it's time for me to dust off the CDs again.

Join Panic Girl and myself at torontos newest venue, Z, for some RSA inspired mayhem.

We'll be spinning everything from state of the art Synthpop to club classics and "Retro".

Drinks are cheap and the club is actually quite nice. Shake your money maker with us!

Jesus. That may have been one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen. Extremely well done, little hints here and there that shows that the producers have paid attention to the craft that they're portraying.

But Jesus, depressing. "The Wrestler" really *makes* you understand why Terry Funk kept coming back time after time. It's all he knows, it's all he loves.

But it's a lot like Downfall. It's a movie I know I'll watch again, but not for a long time. You empathize with the characters too much and get sucked into the same feeling of hopelessness and despair.

The worst part of it is that it makes you sit and think about where you're going to be in 15 years. Lord knows I don't want to end up like that.

See that LJ icon? That was *then*. I'm glad that now is so different. I'm glad I knew when to walk away.

No-one has said boo yet, but "The Next Doctor" is/was brilliant. An RTD episode that stands out like it was written by The Moff.
